FULTON
"Hello, beautiful people!"
Noah and I chuckle to each other as Gus' voice booms from the waiting room all the way down the hallway and into the staff lounge we're sitting in. Chase and a few other staff members are floating around, getting ready for what promises to be another busy day. When Gus strides into the room, I notice Tyler is only a half step behind him. I lean over to Noah. "Hey, have you seen either Gus or Tyler at all this week?"
Noah scratches his jaw. "Now that you mention it, no, I haven't. But I don't know everyone's schedules. There are times when you and I barely see each other at all."
Hmm. When Gus bounces over to me and hands me my herbal tea, I thank him for it and tack on, "Where have you two been all week?"
He exchanges a guilty look with Tyler. "Last-minute trip to Vegas," Gus replies over his shoulder as he continues swanning around the room, handing everyone their drink as is his usual Thursday tradition.
Tyler slides down onto the couch opposite where we're sitting. "Oh, look." He points to Noah and me with a dramatic hand flip. "It's the president and vice-president of the Itty Bitty Dicky Committee."
"Shut up, Tyler," Noah whips back, before turning to me with a happy-stunned look in his eyes. "Yeah, okay, this new catchphrase totally works."
I nudge into him, grinning. "Told ya."
Tyler laughs. "Gus told me about the whole 'Shut up, Fulton' thing in Vegas. I'm honored you're passing it down to me."
Gus comes over and sits down beside Tyler.
"Why Vegas?" I ask.
He shrugs. "Why not? There are only so many places you can go out to in Brookhaven. Thought it might be nice to get away for the weekend."
"It's Thursday," Noah points out.
Gus lifts a shoulder and winks at Tyler. "It was an extra-long weekend."
Noah sends me a questioning look, but I'm not going to pry any further.
"Hey, Fulton, these came for you."
I can only hear Harmony and not see her because her tiny frame is entirely blocked by the largest bouquet of flowers I have ever seen in my life.
"Thank you." I get up and take them from her, placing them onto the coffee table.
"Ooh." Tyler perks up, rubbing his hands together. "Are they from TD Wilson?"
"Who?" I ask, crouching down, looking to see if there's a card.
I snatch the small white envelope and sit down as Tyler explains. "TD Wilson, aka the Twink Destroyer. You know, the guy we saw you having dinner with last Friday."
Bishop did mention he performed under a stage name. He never told me what it was, so I guess Tyler's probably right if he's familiar with his work. "I know him as Bishop Turner," I say, flipping the card in between my fingers. Given I'm in full view of everyone, I decide to open it later.
"Why is he called the Twink Destroyer?" Noah asks, looking over at Tyler.
A smile lurks at Tyler's lips as he waves for us to huddle in closer.
